Individual Psychotherapy and Relationship Counselling in Canberra
For the last 30 years, I have been in private practice as an individual and relationship counsellor, and more recently as a psychotherapist. I see the development of self-awareness, self-management, intimate relationships and the fulfilment of our potential as a lifelong process.
My counselling services tap into what is driving troublesome situations
Difficulties we face today often have their roots in unresolved past experiences. These often cloud the lenses through which we view ourselves, others and the world. As a result, we may end up with beliefs like 'I can't speak in public', 'I can't handle conflict', 'I'll never have a fulfilling relationship or a stimulating and satisfying job' or generally speaking, 'I can't have what I want because...'. As Covey says, 'it's not the things we don't know that cause the problems, it's all the things we do know, that just ain't true', and it is the latter which robs us of fulfilment.
My objective is to help you to recognise where undermining and destructive beliefs about yourself come from and release yourself from the self-defeating behaviours that follow, so you can choose how you want your life to be and work towards this end.
Background to my counselling and psychotherapy practice
I have an eclectic approach. For the past 45 years I have undertaken counselling, psychotherapy and numerous workshops to help me understand myself and others and to develop my therapeutic skills. In my relationship counselling and psychotherapy sessions conducted from my Canberra practice, I draw on my academic studies, a vast number of experiential workshops and books focusing on many different psychological modalities, and my own life experience.
